Nick Souza is a Brazilian-Canadian Hip Hop artist who uses his ethnic roots to set him apart from the masses, drawing from genres including Baile Funk, RnB, and Latin Jazz. Pursuing his interest and advancement in music, Nick attended Western University and Fanshawe College’s dual degree MIA program (Recording Arts/Audio Engineering) in London, Ontario Canada. Shadowing under Grammy nominated/Juno Award-Winning producer and engineer Dan Brodbeck, Nick learned to become a professional producer, songwriter, mix engineer, and master engineer.
Nick Souza’s career began out of his university dorm room, producing his first ever single and EP, All The Way and Souza Szn, Vol.1, which both released in 2019. In successfully self-promoting Souza Szn, Vol.1, Nick was able to secure gigs at clubs and venues throughout Toronto, Hamilton and London, including Modrn Night Club, Mod Club, Mustang Lounge and the Wave. Nick has begun to establish himself as a name, not only as a performer, but also as an engineer, songwriter, and producer with some of Toronto’s new artists, including Kafayé, Jonah Zed, and Fleedoe.
Over the course of 2020, Nick Souza participated in the Beat Series, a singing competition for Luso (Portuguese) individuals in the Toronto area. Hosted by MDC Media Group, Nick Souza faced off against 12 other competitors for an overall prize of $5,000 and an album recording contract. Nick went on to win The Beat Series, ultimately signing with MDC Music and releasing his first single on the label, “Light Show”, for which he won “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Performance” at the 2022 International Portuguese Music Awards’. Nick has been rolling through 2023 with his releases “Baile”, “Perreo” and “No One” while featuring on highly streamed “Fim De Semana” and “Sweat.” Nick looks to continue expanding his audience with the release his first singles from the upcoming EP “Souza Szn, Vol.2.” in early 2024.
